Atlanta, Georgia
June 2006 - January 2008
In this two year span, I acted
as an outside contractor for Georgia Public Broadcasting
(GPB) for two major projects. The first one was the production
of the SALSA DVD covers; a series of DVDs to serve as an
introductory course to the Spanish language. I was provided
the original artwork assets, and I provided to GPB, a precise
mechanical of all twelve of their DVD covers that was sent
off to the printer and printed without any complications.
The
second project I did for GPB, because of my publication
experience as well as my familiarity with the Japanese language,
I was contracted to put together two textbooks and their
corresponding teachers guides for their Irasshai: Introduction
to Japanese program, which does not need any explanation.
For years, Irasshai was using a series of loose worksheets
and binders, and with the expansion of the program, they
wanted to have something a little more "official,"
in a textbook. It was my job to take all original assets,
and rebuild two 400+ page textbooks and two 100+ page workbooks
to publication specifications. This was a lengthy process
which required several on-site consultations, business lunches,
as well as many many hours of labor, and rounds of revisions,
but in the end, I was able to provide impeccable final mechanicals,
and the textbooks published without problem. They are still
available to this day via Amazon.com's BookSurge shopping
Duties:
-
Collaborated with GPB clients on design, pricing, details,
and execution of projects. Upon agreement of all aspects
of the work, I successfully executed all required tasks,
and provided flawless final files back to GPB.
-
Integrated suggestions to the design aspect of both
the Spanish DVD covers as well as the Japanese textbooks
for logical reasons, and upon agreement, implemented
them into the design.
