| Supervalu
Lithia Springs, Georgia
April 2004 - March 2005
I'll be the first to admit that I took the job due to monetary
and spatial convenience. Supervalu is the third largest
grocery supplier in the United States, and their products
are sold all across the Midwest and East Coast regions.
I took on the role of one of two advertising coordinators
whose primary objective was the weekly production of circular
advertisements for stores ranging from Minneapolis, Minnesota
to Atlanta, Georgia, and even one client in the Grand Cayman
Islands in the Caribbean. This was the first time that I
had the duty to also be responsible for directly contacting
a list of clientele and getting vital information for their
circulars on a weekly basis. In addition, I was responsible
for coordinating with outside agencies that handled the
production of various other regional stores, and acted as
a liason between the agencies and the retailers, and provided
proofreading, criticism and input to the agencies.
In
March 2005, the company underwent some financial reconstruction,
and Supervalu saw it fit to eliminate the in-house design
coordinators, in favor of full agency outsourcing
Duties:
-
Creation of eight weekly, global circulars personally,
and management of the creation of ten other global weekly
circulars done externally. Included in these duties
was the correspondence with outside retailers, rounds
of feedback, as well as management of executing the
finalization of files, and electronic delivery to the
printers via FTP or disk.
-
Management of all artwork assets in the library that
I created myself
-
Entrusted with maintaining relationships with the outside
agency that handled several other Supervalu retailers,
ensuring good client-relations and good communication.
Accomplishments:
-
Prior to my arrival there was no semblance of organization
of artwork assets. I put together a well-organized,
easy-to-use, and accurate library of all the company's
artwork assets. This led to internal projects having
one central location to find and link artwork, thus
saving the company in necessity of increasing hard-drive
space, and the headache of not having things organized
in place.
-
After establishing my work capacity, Supervalu was able
to bring three additional accounts in-house, and under
my responsibility, thus saving the company thousands
of dollars in unnecessary outsourcing costs.
