partners
+ napier formerly Wolf Group Atlanta
Studios
April, 2003 - April, 2004
Job
Title: Graphic Designer
Status: Full-time
Compensation: $30,000/annually
Location: Dunwoody, Georgia
Job
Description: partners + napier is one of the Eastman
Kodak Company's largest subsidary multimedia consultants.
Formerly, the Wolf Group, partners came into itself in March
of 2004 in a corporate employee buy-out. As a graphic designer
for partners, my primary duty was the creation of advertising
material for Kodak products. From the boxes the disposable
cameras came in, to the signs and posters you see at your
local CVS, Best Buy, or any other Kodak film developer, this
is what I did at partners. As one of twelve other designers
on staff, teamwork and cooperation was essential in conceptualizing
and execution of ideas.
Aside
from the print design aspect of the job, I assisted frequently
in the web design of some of the other projects that came
into the agency. Other daily duties included loading mechanicals
for the printers to have precise files, supports and fonts
for specific jobs. Deadlines were various, some jobs may require
one-day turnaround, others would require less intense time
frames.
Primary
Software: Mac OSX environment, QuarkXPress, Photoshop,
Illustrator, Outlook, Lotus Notes, Acrobat, Distiller.
Additional
Required Skills & Knowledge: Understanding of
royalty-free and rights-managed stock photography, understanding
of networking and shared files, time management, excellent
file management and organization. Large-scale physical mock-ups
and printing, knowledge of die-cutting and specialized printing,
HTML and basic web knowledge, burning CDs and DVDs, electronic
archiving.
Reason
I'm not there anymore: I was commuting 56 miles and
90 minutes (on average) each way, in and out of the heart
of Atlanta's worst traffic area to get to work.
