The
Seventeen Dollar Bill
2006 Holiday Money Gift Envelope
I
have a firm belief that cash is not a bad holiday gift, as long
as it is presented sincerly and with good intentions, instead of
being a cop-out gift in an act of negligence. As a result, during
the holidays in 2006, I created this gift envelope completely from
scratch to hand out my monetary gifts to my friends and family that
season.
I
acquired some stock photography for this project, and I created
my own die-cuts. Carefully measuring the structure of modern currency,
I spoofed the American dollar in my own essence, and created a pocket
for my gift to go into.
And
not wanting the actual laborious part of the gift to be simply tossed
upon redemption of the cash, I designed it in a manner that with
the enclosed and pre-attached tape, it could be folded into a pyramid-shaped
structure, that could be free-standing, like a satirical photograph
of myself.
