I can do corporate. I can do creative. I can do production. I can do print. I can do web. And most importantly, I can do swiftly, and expediently. I've accomlished a lot in my career thusfar, but I'm never content. I always want to stay up-to-date with the industry, and I'm always in pursuit of further knowledge and expanding my skill set.

I take a greal deal of pride in the speed in which I'm capable of doing my job; if the old saying is true about time equalling money, then I'm capable of saving companies a lot of money with the expedient manner in which I tackle workloads.

Here is a comprehensive set of skills and experience-based talents that I'm capable of bringing to employers.

Computers:

I can work in either a Mac or Windows environment with zero differentiation to my capabilities. The software I list below are all programs that I can work on to my fullest potential on either platform without complication.

Everywhere I've worked, I've worked on networks, so I am very much experienced in dealing with the rules and courtesies when it comes to working on a network, shared with other designers, coordinators, and other employees. I have a firm grasp of file management, so that files I work on are conscientious of other users, so that fonts, links and artwork are not broken, and the importance of backing up files locally, just in case a worst-case scenario would be to occur.

My file management is excellent and borderlines on meticulous. Some designers can be total messes with their files, but it often goes overlooked if the end product is still delivered the way they want it. Well, that's not me. I like to keep my files neat, organized, and easy to file, so that it's expedient for me to do my job, as well as for any other designers or printers who may need to access my work in the future.

Software:

Adobe Creative Suite

  • Photoshop (3.0 - CS4) - From clipping paths, color correction, photo manipulation, and a variety of retouching, I can do it all. I've created PSD files as small as 32 pixels for XBOX Live, or as large as 25 feet tall, for giant signs that hang proudly off of the Turner complex in Downtown Atlanta.
  • Illustrator (6.0 - CS4) - I can draw vector graphics in Illustrator, as well as manipulate paths, and unique text treatments in AI. I also am versed with using Illustrator to generate unique die cuts and patterns used for specialized print materials that require special cuts or package design. Prior to the advent of InDesign, I was also capable of utilizing Illustrator for page layout capabilities.
  • InDesign (2.0 - CS4) - The premiere software when it comes to layout. Using InDesign, I can put together basically any project that is intended to be printed, or use ID to layout ideas for potential website designs. From business cards, to posters, to website comps, InDesign is probably my favorite software out of the entire Suite.
  • Acrobat/Distiller (3.0 - CS4) - PDFs have become a fairly prevalent mainstay of information transfer these days, and pretty much anyone can create a PDF today. But not everyone is capable of optimizing PDFs for file size, image quality, to simply the way they view when the end-user double clicks it. I'm fully capable of maximizing the capabilities of a properly generated PDF, as well as the many varieties that publications have specified their unique and individual Distiller settings for optimization for their publications.
  • Flash (2.0 - CS4) - Clients have been providing me with Flash assets, that I'm capable of opening and utilizing materials for their end projects.
  • Dreamweaver (2.0 - CS4) - I'm pretty good with the odds and ends of Dreamweaver, and I've built many sites using Dreamweaver, as well as utilized the back-door capabilities of the software to go into the coding back-end of an HTML and/or CSS file, and manually fix and tweak things on a granular level for optimium visual purposes.

QuarkXPress (4.0 - 7.0) - Although I personally prefer InDesign over Quark, I still recognize and respect Quark as a staple of the design industry. That being said, everything I say I am capable of doing with InDesign also applies to Quark, with little difference in my ability.

Microsoft Office (98, 2003, 2008) - Office is an essential part of any company these days, and provides the standard in word processing, number crunching, to presentations. That being said, I'm fully versed with the Office suite, I can use Word competently as a word processor, or simply a way to format text and set up templates. I type fast (65 wpm), and I can do my own typesetting if necessary. PowerPoint is also a useful tool to generate slide presentations, as well as be an adequate program to generate some visual templates to be distributed within businesses.

Other software worth mentioning: The following programs are not as commonly used these days, but I do have experience with them, and am fully capable of using them to this day - Adobe PageMaker, Multi-Ad Creator, FrontPage, HomeSite, and Composer.

Branding:

The following are a few of the brands that I have done work for and managed throughout my career:

These are all well-known and reputable brands, and I have been tasked in the past with enforcing the correct usage of their identities, and maintaining brand integrity in a variety of projects, from marketing collateral, signage, to advertisements and publications. I am good with adhering to brand guidelines, and working with the pre-existing rules and templates of major companies.

Print:

The majority of my career experience has been on the print side, and I have done a wide variety of projects, ranging from things as small as business cards, to printed projects as billboards viewable from the highway, while driving by at 55 mph. I have full understanding of the printing process, from spot colors to 4C printing, stock selection, die-cutting to file delivery. Having worked for a printer in my career, I know a lot of the jargon and terms they use that many don't quite understand, and I utilize such to my advantage. I make excellent mock-ups and visual aides for those who need that visual example of a project to get the wheels moving in their eyes. I deliver user-friendly, accurate and concise mechanicals via FTP or disk, and there is no publication's Distiller settings that I cannot generate an accurate PDF from. The bottom line is that I can confidently say, is that if it can be printed, I can do it.

Web:

Many of the same principles of print apply to web, and even more similarities are in the necessary software to get it done online as well. I am fully competent at designing for web use, as well as executing the designs on my own accord. Although I prefer to use software such as Adobe Dreamweaver to construct my projects, I'm completely not object to going in and hand-coding the HTML and style sheets on my own; I have full knowledge of HTML, XHTML, and I stay up-to-date on CSS and any new commands and prompts that are developed.

Other talents and abilities:

  • English is my first language, but I also speak Korean, as well as some Japanese
  • I have many developed relationships with several stock photography websites, such as Getty Images, Corbis, and Masterfile, and I can bring those relationships to an employer, with benefit for potential significant discounts.
  • I have had plenty of experience with training new employees as well as seasonal interns with my responsibilities.
  • And finally, there is no deadline that I cannot overcome. Late nights of take-out Chinese food or pizza with moonlit runs to Quik-Trip are nothing out of the ordinary for me.
