Supervalu
April, 2004 - March, 2005
Job
Title: Advertising Coordinator
Status: Full-time
Compensation: $17/hourly, $33,000/annual estimate
Location: Lithia Springs, Georgia
Job
Description: Supervalu is the third largest grocery
retailer in the United States, and supplies stores all across
the Southeast and Midwest regions of the country. It was my
main task to produce circular ads for various grocery retailers.
I built ads for stores as far west as Minnesota all the way
to stores in the Grand Cayman Islands. It was my responsibility
to speak with the clients to find out what items would be
on sale, what items to display, and the general look and feel
of the advertisement. After collecting this information, I
would then build the ads, either from scratch, or from templates
that I generated myself.
My
secondary responsibility included the coordination and monitoring
of the company's third-party outsourcing graphics houses and
freelancers. I would be the liason between these third-party
contributors and the retailers, and would provide proofreading,
constructive criticism and general input to outsourced jobs.
My
position and contributions led to Supervalu saving thousands
of dollars in the short time that I was there due to my ability
to keep many jobs in-house, as opposed to outsourcing them
to expensive third-party graphic houses and freelancers.
Primary

Illustrator, Lotus Notes, Acrobat, Distiller, WS FTP.
Additional
Required Skills & Knowledge: Photo search and
purchasing, understanding of networking and shared files,

Phone & fax correspondence also essential.
Reason
I'm not there anymore: Outsourcing.
